Founder & President

  • Black AAP is an independent African-American student, staff, and faculty organization that exists within Cornell University’s Architecture, Art, and Planning department. I founded this organization in 2022 and spearheaded the marketing, treasury, management, and leadership efforts in its first year. I am also the sole animator of our popular advertisement videos that have reached over 12,000 views on Instagram in total. It has now expanded rapidly as it has gained close association with over 10 Cornell student organizations, world famous artists such as Precious Okoyomon, Nydia Blas, and Adebunmi Gbadebo, and large corporations like The Johnson Museum of Art and Clemson University. I currently serve as president and work everyday with the team I have built to strengthen the Black community at Cornell.

ABOUT ME 〰️

Jaylin John

.

Cornell University student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture with extensive knowledge in research, communication, marketing , graphic design, and user experience design.

  • In the beginning, my life started with a fascination with the shape of the human form. Whether that be a cartoon or a beautiful face, sketching, drawing, and animating as a child were my standout hobbies. This lead me to Graphic Design and Architecture. By the age of 11, I became fully immersed in the world of design, animation, and computer generated images. I then chose to study Architecture at Cornell University, which allowed me to combine my interests of animation and graphic design with my skills in research, marketing, community outreach, conceptualization, trademark design and digital communication. Therein breeds my passion for UX/UI and Product Design.

  • My design philosophy mirrors my personal and moral philosophy: If there’s an opportunity to do what is right by or for another, it is to be done. In design, the quality of a digital experience and sound communication for the client comes first, no matter what.

  • I am the biggest Harry Potter fan you will ever meet. I have read the book seven times consecutively and have visited every Potter attraction around the world more times than I can say or I’d risk embarrassment. I love animating and sketching, writing and designing digital architecture. I use Minecraft as a big tool for digital architectural construction and Nintendo Flipnote to create animations. You can also find me outside riding my bike or running on an outdoor trail listening to Mac Miller.
